What is the purpose of the physical education and school sport premium?

In the 2016 budget, to help improve the health of future generations, the budget for the physical education and school sport premium went from from £160 million per annum to £320 million per annum until 2020.

For the year 2023/4, Hunmanby Primary School has been allocated funds of £17,710 of physical education and school sport premium.

What is the purpose of the physical education and school sport premium?

  • The premium is jointly funded by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and is to be used in schools on increasing and improving physical education and sport for all pupils
  • The premium enables schools to establish the foundations for a sustainable strategy for a lasting physical activity legacy, by improving provision in school of school sport and introducing health focused physical activity

Objective
To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE, physical literacy and sport in primary schools.

  • To engage all pupils in regular physical activity in the hope of creating healthy active lifestyles
  • Increase profile of PE and sport within school
  • Increase confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • Broader experience in range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • Increased participation in competitive sports

The physical education and school sport premium is ring-fenced and can only be spent on physical education and sport provision in schools.

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.

Extra- Curricular Clubs - Autumn Term 2023

Our after school clubs run every week. Please note that our staff give up their own time to run the clubs,
so we would expect your child to commit to the club for the time it runs for. We would also appreciate
children being collected on time as staff will often still have work to do in school after the clubs have
finished.
